Wherever your road leads,
may it be open, and may you always have room for wonder,
for quiet joy, and for the faithful presence of a companion at your side.
Travel has always been more than just a pastime for me — it’s a way of life. A way of seeing the world not merely through the lens of a visitor, but as someone who embraces the ever-changing landscapes, cultures, and experiences that unfold with every mile. But I don’t travel alone.
My companion on this journey is Bow Boe, my loyal Labradoodle — an adventurer in her own right, whose enthusiasm for new places rivals my own. Together, we are wanderers on wheels, charting our own course in the comfort of our motorhome. A home that moves with us, wherever the road may lead. As we set off on each trip, she nuzzles my arm resting on the gearstick, before curling up contentedly in her safe place.
As a sole traveller, there’s something uniquely liberating about life on the road. The open highways, the remote mountain passes, the hidden coastal gems — they all become part of the story, each stop a new chapter waiting to be written. Some days it’s about waking up to the sound of waves crashing against the shore, sipping coffee as the sun rises over a secluded bay. Other days, it’s navigating winding roads through rugged mountains, chasing the quiet thrill of the unknown.
For Bow Boe, every journey is an adventure of scents, sights, and boundless energy. She is my travel partner, my co-pilot, and at times, my navigator — especially when she insists on stopping somewhere for an impromptu walk. Whether bounding through snowy trails in the Swiss Alps, trotting along a sun-drenched Spanish promenade, or simply curling up after a long drive, she reminds me of the simple joys of this nomadic life.
This memoir is more than a travelogue. It’s a collection of lived experiences — moments, places, and people encountered along the way. From the Basque Country to the shimmering coasts of Southern Spain, and into the crisp, clear air of the Swiss mountains, it’s a journey filled with unexpected discoveries, gentle challenges, and moments of pure freedom.
So, as you turn the pages, imagine the hum of the engine, the endless horizon ahead, and a Labradoodle’s eager paw tapping on my arm in quiet anticipation — wondering, as I so often do: Where to next?
